Everyone wants to clean quickly and get it over with. Spring cleaning can be even more rigorous than everyday cleaning, and so it’s even more difficult to do it quickly.
However, it is possible to do a complete your spring cleaning in just 2 hours. Here’s how:
It’s easy to get overwhelmed by spring cleaning. And it’s equally easy for it to seem to take forever.
The solution? Plans.
Know where you’ll clean, when, in which room, and in which order.
Consider using a checklist. Think of the satisfaction you’ll feel as you check off each finished item.
Keep on Top of the Work throughout the Year
If you maintain a clean home year-round, doing spring cleaning will be a snap.
Be sure you have a weekly cleaning routine for dusting, vacuuming, laundering, etc.
That way the dirt—and the work—won’t build up.
Don’t Go It Alone
Make sure family members and even friends help out as you do your spring cleaning.
Even very young children can be recruited for easy jobs, such as putting away their toys.
Break It Up
Don’t feel obliged to clean for 2 hours straight.
Consider doing your spring cleaning for 10 or 20 minutes daily over a period of a week or 10 days.
Keep Cleaning Tools Maintained and Organised
Use a vacuum with a fresh bag (if it uses a bag) and belt. Make sure the beater brushes are free of hair and other debris.
Have your smaller cleaning tools and products all together in a bucket or carry-all.
Make sure sponges and dust cloths are new or at least clean.
Check product levels before you begin, to make sure you don’t run out in the middle of the spring cleaning job.
Use a Timer
Set deadlines for cleaning jobs, and use a timer as complete the various tasks.
Otherwise you’ll end up lingering on some tasks while others go unfinished.
Most individual tasks—vacuuming, tub scrubbing, cleaning a ceiling fan, or putting clean sheets and a spring-patterned comforter on a bed, etc.—should take no more than 10 minutes, or even 5 minutes, each.
When You’re Done
Enjoy your clean home, then go outside and play. After all, it’s spring!
