Your bathroom can be a place of heaven in your home. Everybody loves to take his or her refreshing shower in the morning or, if we have the time, to relax in the bathtub in the evening, surrounded by many soap bubbles, music, aroma candles. On the other hand, when it comes to cleaning this space, it can become your nightmare.

Here are our 10 domestic tips for cleaning your bathroom.

1. Prepare with all the necessary cleaning supplies:

  • bathroom cleaners;
  • scrub brush ( you can also use an old toothbrush for tiny dirty spots);
  • toilet brush;
  • gloves;
  • bucket or large bowl;
  • broom or floor mop;
  • microfiber cloths and clean rags;
  • garbage bags.

2. Remove all items from bathroom counters.

Things like shampoos, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and other toiletries, do not have a place there when cleaning thoroughly.

3. Remove shower liners.

They might be from different materials such as vinyl, cotton, synthetic. You can launder them in a washing machine using a soft program. Another option is washing by hand with a proper product. Be sure they are well dried before putting them back again.

4. Spray all surfaces like ceramic tiles, walls, ceiling with a bathroom cleaner.

cleaning_tilesUse disinfectant to kill any bacteria. Leave the product for 10 to 20 minutes to soak. Stay away from the bathroom during that time. If you use a harsh cleaner (for example for mildew) that can make you sick. Leave a window open and switch on the ventilation.

Nowadays most cleaning products should not contain harsh chemicals. You can use eco-friendly and natural cleaners or some simple products that you can find in your kitchens such as baking soda and white vinegar. For example, to clean mildew mix 10 parts water with 1 part bleach and 1 part vinegar.

5. Put on some gloves and begin to scrub all soaked surfaces.

Use the toothbrush for tiny and narrow spots. After you are done, rinse well. Use some clean rags to drywalls. Wipe them well to prevent mildew in the recent future. For that purpose, you should also leave a window open or switch a fan on for at least 30 minutes after having a shower.

6. Pay serious attention to the shower, tub, and sink.

If you prefer to think “green”, take care of the showerhead by filling a plastic bag with some white vinegar. Place it around so that this liquid reaches the showerhead’s surface. Do this the evening before cleaning your bathroom and leave it for one night. In the morning scrub it with a toothbrush and rinse well. Spray tub and sink surfaces with proper bathroom cleaners. Leave for a few minutes and scrub every detail. Rinse with warm water using the showerhead or a bucket. When you are sure there are no stains left, dry surfaces with a big cloth or clean rag.

7. Pour some disinfectant cleaner (for example bleach) into the toilet bowl.

Then dry surfaces with paper towels and flush the toilet. Ventilation is important at that stage of cleaning your bathroom, so leave the door and window open and the fan switched on.

8. Spray mirrors with glass cleaner or a solution of white vinegar and water.

Then clean with a microfiber cloth from top to bottom to avoid any water spots. Do the same with the window if you have one in your bathroom. The result is nice and shiny.

9. Take special care of the bath toys.

bath_toysHaving children in your family always leads to having a few bath toys. So, do not miss them when cleaning your bathroom. Use natural disinfectant. Mix 3 litres of water with a half cup of white vinegar. Leave bath toys in that mixture for 5 to 10 minutes. Then clean gently and allow them to dry.

10. Complete the cleaning with these finishing details:

  • mop with warm water and cleaner, then dry the floor;
  • empty your garbage;
  • put the shower liners back in place;
  • set all your toiletries in order;
  • change dirty hand towels with clean and fresh ones;
  • polish with a microfiber cloth where is necessary.

That is how you will have a sparkling bathroom. As it shows cleaning this space is not an easy job. If you want to save a lot of effort and time, call a professional cleaning company. They will take care of all these steps and will use the right cleaning products. Make yourself a little prize and while relaxing in your shining tub, forget about all that cleaning!
